We aim to selectively carry out and strategically exit profit-oriented businesses, such as coal-fired power generation, and expand businesses that are suitable for the transition to carbon neutrality, such as LNG CCPP projects, in response to the difficulty regarding the suspension of developing coal-fired power plants.
In the long run, we will transition to an eco-friendly overseas project portfolio by focusing on developing renewable power generation projects the have potential for growth(e.g., solar power and wind power). As a result, all overseas coal-fired power generation projects of KEPCO will be ceased after 2050
We are building an asset management system through cooperation with relevant teams and third-party experts to maximize profit and minimize risks in overseas projects. In case of the solar power project in Japan, we formed a task force in response to changes in Japan's renewable energy policy and prediction for increased risks incurred by earthquakes and output volatility, established a cooperative system with third-party experts and set a specific process to sell the asset. We built an optimal sales strategy based on the decision made by the task force and successfully disposed of our equity for early investment return for the first time in overseas businesses. The profit was invested in follow-up projects such as the solar panel project in Guam. We established a flexible and active asset management system for overseas projects.
Coal exit and cessationof new gas-fired CCPP projects by 2030
Make the coal-fired power plants in operation or construction available for sale and complete the sales before the target date.
Apply new technologt (e.g., ammonia-hydrogen blends, CCUS, etc.) in case of a delay in sales.
Cease the development of conventional power plants, such as gas CCPP, after 2030, considering the business period.
Replacement of fossil fuel to 100% green energy by 2050
Cease the operation of fossil fuel power plants (coal, LNG, etc.) and pursue zero-carbon green power generation.

We are building a global power network through world-class power plant project capabilities.
Starting with Mexico's Norte II (433 MW), we have been carrying out large-scale power plant projects in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia, generating stable profits. We are also playing a leading role in global business by supporting the overseas expansion of domestic companies in construction, equipment supply, and financing.
The APR1400 is Korea's flagship nuclear reactor model for export, certified by EUR (2017) and the U.S. NRC (2019). Units 1 to 3 exported to the UAE began commercial operations in April 2021, March 2022, and February 2023 respectively, and have been stably supplying clean power 24/7. The 4th unit began commercial operation in September 2024.
Since the wind power project in China in 2005, we now operate 1,017 MW. Expanding to the Middle East in 2013, we developed the 100%-owned Fujeij Wind Power Project, which began commercial operation in 2019. We also entered the U.S. and Japanese markets with solar plants in Chitose, Japan (28 MW); Mangilao, Guam (60 MW); and California, USA (235 MW). In 2019, we secured a 294 MW solar project in Mexico, expanding into Latin America and reinforcing our position as a clean energy provider.
Connecting the world with transmission and distribution technology, we are leading the future of global power infrastructure.
By leveraging advanced technology and local networks, we've entered countries such as Myanmar, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Botswana, and Tajikistan through consulting projects. Building on these capabilities, we expanded into EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), executing projects in Kazakhstan, Bhutan, and the Dominican Republic.
Starting with T&D consulting in Myanmar and the Philippines, we expanded to EPC projects in Kazakhstan, the Dominican Republic, and India. We're also pursuing new projects in Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Guam, and Uzbekistan. By leveraging our technologies and networks, we aim to expand follow-up projects in stages, create high-value services, and develop partnerships with domestic companies to enter global markets together.
The UAE HVDC Submarine Transmission Project—our first overseas investment and operation in power grids—is a milestone. It showcases 30 years of Korean HVDC technology excellence and ensures long-term stable revenue. Building on this, we will pursue further power grid investments and operation projects to secure new growth engines.

We are expanding our overseas new energy business based on renewable energy and new technologies. Key projects include the establishment of microgrids (MG) in Honduras and Mozambique, the establishment of intelligent power metering infrastructure (AMI) in Indonesia, and the promotion of exports of proprietary new technologies overseas. Through these initiatives, we are leading the global energy market.
We secured 53,000 tons of carbon credits in 2023 through the Myanmar cookstoves CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) project, and we plan to continuously secure carbon credits through the Bangladesh drinking water facility CDM project. Moving forward, we aim to diversify our overseas business by integrating related sectors and developing high-profit customized business models, positioning ourselves as a global leader in the new energy business.
